"My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard"

Hello everyone,

I have been making some awesome smoothies lately and my boys love them too! Little do they know they are drinking up baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, prunes and all sorts of healthy goodness :)
Whats that? you have never put baby spinach into your smoothie or milkshake? TRY IT! I can honestly tell you that you cannot taste it.
So use a dash of skim milk, no fat youghurt, a drop of honey and then go wild with your imagination! If it is too thick add some ice blocks, cold water or juice to thin it out.
I remember my dad once made us banana milkshakes and they had orange bits floating in top.... yup he had put carrot in them and NO they were not a big hit for a 10 year old! haha but now I may try it again only I will grate them finer so they blend a bit better.

TIP:  Use frozen yoghurt/fruits in summer for a colder smoothie

So off you go to try your hand and imagination at some lovely blended breakfast, lunches or after dinner snack! Leave me your smoothie/milkshake ideas in the comments for us all to try :)

PS. I am having a run later today. What activity are you going to squeeze in today?

  1. Mel I had to laugh when you said you put spinach in your smoothies :D I will have to try it! I usually have a smoothie for breakfast because it's so quick and easy and I can take it with me in the car for the school run if I don't have time to finish it at home. My usual recipe consists of half a cup of water, half a cup of milk, tablespoon rolled oats, 1/2 tablespoon pysillium, 2 scoops protein pdr, 2 frozen fruit smoothie cubes and one tablespoon plain yoghurt :)
Loving your blog, very inspiring :D

  2. I also had a laugh when you said you added rolled oats to your smoothie because I was just teasing a friend about that very ingredient! I don't know about having to chew your smoothie? lol But if your trying my baby spinach then I am going to try the rolled oats!

Thank you so much for reading my blog and for being inspired by it xx

  3. Yes I do have to chew my smoothie, it's a bit gritty towards the bottom lol but it's either that or egg on toast and for some reason I just can't face that early in the morning. Not as good as all the biscuits and cakes we used to have for morning tea at work, remember those days in the chemist Melissa! But I can't eat like that anymore without piling on the kilos :o(
