First of all you should know I ran with a headache. That would have been my reason for not going in the old days... After awhile I didn't even think about my headache and I think it was gone half way through my run.
I went for my run yesterday & I was thinking along my way to the point I start running about how I've only been running 3-4kms maximum. I haven't been pushing myself or really challenging myself at all. Today I felt driven and ready to do something brave and bold. I decided to reverse my usual loop and run until I reached my usual bridge stop where I start to fast walk (by going the opposite way to usual and reaching the bridge would mean I had run further than before)
So off I went and I have learnt a few things about myself along my running journey. I am a fiddler. I get sweaty and things move around when your bouncing so if my cross back running top is not sitting just right, the ear phones have to be on perfectly, my legging have to be pulled up just so and my bra...well don't even get me started on THAT! Whilst I am running I start fidgeting with all these things and that can really put my off my running mojo FAST! I have to keep reminding myself to not fidget and just keep running. Also if I over think the details of my running I may end up just doing a fast walk. So the key is to relax and use the time to think of awesome things like holidays, friends and family instead of the nitty gritty's of the actual run.
Anyway back to the run I did yesterday. When I was running I was almost at the bridge (my goal point) and started thing hey I'm nearly there and I am not even tired, I will keep going until I really have to stop :) So I get to the bridge along with 5 other runners and then we all came to an abrupt halt! Dammit the bridge walkway was closed due to a fire and so we all had to go the other way around. I totally agreed with the other girl as she said out loud 'ohhhh geez I just got my run on' and when your running your running so you really don't want to stop for anything or you may stay that way, stopped. Well we all went the long way and crossed the road back to our running side and the 4 boys were off again like rockets and so that made me get going again too.
I just kept running, it was amazing. I wasn't sore or puffed or even tired! Fantastic :) After about 7kms I felt the need to slow down so I did. Then I felt groovy and picked up the pace again and finished up doing 8kms of running and 9.4kms all up! I always walk home to cool down.
I was on cloud 9! Until I realised that I would have to complete that challenge again a few times and then make it better! haha oh dear what have I done??? ( better as in faster, better technique ) I'm pretty sure 8-10kms is more than enough running for a normal person unless I plan on doing a marathon or half marathon which could be on the cards next year sometime, who knows?
I went to bed with very sore knees. I took myself off to the spa/steam room for some therapy today so hopefully that will help along with a few yoga stretches and rest.
Drink up some refreshing water and I will type you all again soon. Keep moving!
