I went last week to my weigh in after doing a fair bit of activity including 2 runs and 2 big gym workouts! I was very proud to discover that I had lost 0.6kg in a week and to celebrate I skipped the meeting and went for a run :)
Those of you that have some know that having children means you have to really plan for your activity ( if your serious about weight loss and exercise the only way is to plan!!!) When, how, where, how long for. If the children are coming I need distractions, snacks, nappy bag, pram of course and oh yes the children! :)
I finally got around to checking out the local gym creche last week I was very excited to learn that it was really going to work for me and my boys. I sat with them for an hour or so and they didn't even look back!
I went off for an hour, did a big workout and came back to 2 very happy and worn out children which = SUPER HAPPY MUMMY! I purchased a whole book of creche vouchers and decided to squeeze in an extra weekly gym work out during the day when the boys can have so fun there too.
So I have essentially just found an extra hour in the week where I can do a great workout AND the boys score too. Everyone is a winner!
I did another 5km run today and a walk to cool down and then I popped over to my Sister and Bro in laws place and helped with some shovelling and shifting of soil. You all should know that gardening is great exercise. Just be mindful that you can get tired quickly in the heat and let your correct posture slip which may cause injury. Try and maintain your correct posture at all times when lifting heavy things and use your legs, suck in that tummy, squeeze the butt cheeks and get a great work out at the same time. Drink plenty of water too.
Fingers crossed for another great result at weigh in next week.
Remember to keep moving and PLAN PLAN PLAN!
Yippee...you are back on track. 5k run...awesome woman! And so glad you are back to blogging. Your blog is so inspiring to me. My 12 week training program leading up to the Florida 1/2 Marathon starts tomorrow. Tough week to get started..especially because I haven't finished my Christmas shopping. I ran a 5k last evening in Albany, NY. Thought about you while I was running and your little angel boys...they would have loved the Christmas lights in the park.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and my best wishes to you along your weight loss journey this week.
Hello Mary Beth. Thanks for reading my blog, that helps me to be accountable and I feel like I should keep writing for you all as much as myself. How far is a half marathon? that sounds appealing to me. Might have to make it my New Years resolution...to train for a marathon! :) Its good to have goals to work towards isn't it?
ReplyDeleteYes Christmas is a tricky time to fit everything in but we have to don't we?
Thanks for thinking about us all on your run, although I wouldn't call my boys angels! haha They have their divine moments though :)
It sounds nice to be running through a park all lit up and christmassy, we don't have that much of it here. Just a sprinkle here and there but nothing spectacular. Although people do their houses up which can look amazing! It really warms the christmas spirit doesn't it?
Keep up the amazing work Mary Beth. You Mum is inspiring isn't she? I mean here we are much younger than her and able to get out for runs etc but not always choosing to and she spend 3 weeks healing from a pretty major operation and is up and about already. Impressive!
Mel..A half marathon is 13.1 miles (21.08km's). I joined a running group in Florida so that should help me stay motivated. The half marathon is in Sarasota Florida on March 11. So looking forward to the sunshine and warm weather of the south...although we have been pretty lucky with the temperatures in the northeast. Mom sure is healing much faster than I ever anticipated. She is motivating to me because I don't want to have the horrible bone issues in my old age that she has.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, best wishes and all my support is sent to you for setting and accomplishing your New Year's resolutions.
